Kathyawadi Tuver Na Thotha - How to Make Tuver na Thotha - Gujarati Recipe

Again this is a very delicious Kathyawadi Recipe. We make it for dinner. It can be served with toasted bread, kulcha or paratha also. It tastes very nice and in our family, we take this recipe along with sev, sweet chutney and curd also as light dinner. So try this mouth watering home made recipe of tuver na thotha. Kathyawadi tuver na thotha

  • Soaking time - 5 to 6 hours
  • Cooking time - 25 to 30 minutes
  • Serves - 4 person

Ingredients to Make Tuver na Thotha

  • 1/2 cup dry tuver
  • 2 table spoon oil
  • 1 big onion finely chopped
  • 1 tea spoon crushed garlic
  • 1 tea spoon crushed ginger
  • 1/4 tea spoon asafoetida
  • 1 tea spoon cumin seeds
  • 1 green chilli finely chopped
  • 1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tomato pure
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 table spoon red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tea spoon garam masala powder

To serve with:

Toasted bread
Finely chopped onion
sev
Finely chopped coriander



Method to Make Tuver na Thotha

  • Wash and soak dry tuver in hot water for 5 to 6 hours. Again wash it and add some salt to it. 
  • Now pressure cook till boiled properly. (may be 4 to 5 whistle)
  • Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds to it. When it crackles add ginger garlic paste and saute for 1 minute.
  • Add onion and green chilli to it and cook well. Now add tomato pure to it and cook for 5 minutes, add dry masala and cook for 2 minutes.
  • At last, add boiled tuver and 1/2 cup water to it.
  • Cook for 5 to 7 minutes or till water reduces. 
  • Hot and delicious Tuver na thotha is ready to serve with bread or kulcha.
  • At the time of serving sprinkle some onion and coriander.

Note:

  • In case of avoiding bread or kulcha serve tuver na thotha with sweet chutney, garlic chutney and whisk curd. And with lots of sev.
