How to Make Butter Milk

Actually, buttermilk masala chhash is very simple and easy drink. We drink it daily after lunch or during lunch instead of water. But in this home made the recipe of buttermilk I tried to make it little interesting by adding some spices and greens. It is known as salty lassi also. Normally we made buttermilk from curd, salt, cumin powder and water, but in this home made Indian - Gujarati recipe we are using lots of coriander leaves and mint leaves also. So, enjoy this cool recipe during this hot summer.



Preparation time - 10 minutes
Cooking time - nil
Makes - 4 glasses

Ingredients to make Butter Milk:

200 grams curd
Salt to taste
2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
1/8 teaspoon black salt powder

For green paste:

1 cup chopped coriander 
1 green chilly
1 tablespoon mint leaves

Method to make Butter Milk:

  • Add all ingredients of green paste in a mixture jar and churn to smooth paste.
  • In a big bowl add curd, green paste, salt, black salt and approx 800 ml. water. Add some ice cubes also and blend it properly.
  • Strain if needed.
  • Pour it into serving glasses and garnish with roasted cumin powder.
  • Serve chilled buttermilk after lunch or dinner.
