Health Benefits of Cucumber

Cucumber is also known as kakdi, kakadi, khira or kheera. It is the cultivated plant from gourd family. It is said that in English cucumber is originated from the Indian word kachumber. It is best to eat cucumber fresh. It is roughly cylindrical in shape. It is one of the oldest cultivated vegetables. It is said that cucumber is originated in northern India. It is the 4th most-widely grown vegetable. They are grown world wide. They are related to watermelon, zucchini and pumpkin. 

Cucumber contains most of the vitamins we need every day. We can chop cucumber in slices, in cubes, even we can grate or de seed it. It is very important to select farm fresh cucumber. Because they are very sensitive to heat. Avoid to take yellow, puffy and wrinkled skinned cucumber. Because their skin is also nutri-rich. 

It is very important to store cucumber in refrigerator when not in use. Wrap remaining cucumber in plastic bag or in air tight container. They should use within one or two days, and should never store at room temperature. 

Cucumber can be used row for salad, raita and beauty treatment also. Even they are very yummy as vegetable also.

  • Treat both low and high blood pressure, as it contains potassium, magnesium and fibre.
