Learn, how to make tempting Indian traditional sweet - Halwa. Normally Halwa is Indian traditional sweet, made from wheat flour. Enjoy serving up in winter. In this healthy homemade recipe, I used jaggery to make it healthier.

Serves - 6
Preparation time - 2 minutes
Cooking time - 10 minutes

Ingredients to make Halwa:

Ghee - clarified butter
¾ cup
Wheat flour
1 cup
Semolina  (sooji)
2 table spoon
3/4 cup
3 cups
A few strands
1 table spoon
Sliced almonds
2 table spoon

 Method to make Halwa:

  • Add ghee in a non-stick or thick bottom karhai. Add sooji and wheat flour to it and roast till light brown in colour.
  • Put the jaggery, saffron and water in a pan and bring to boil.
  • When flour if ready add hot jaggery water to it and cook well. At this stage add raisins. Stir properly.
  • Cook till ghee appears at the sides of karhai.
  • Transfer piping hot halwa in serving plate and garnish with sliced almonds.

  • If coarse wheat flour sooji should be avoided. Both will give the same result.
