Dabeli Bhel: The Spicy, Tangy Snack You Can’t Stop Eating

Hello foodies! Welcome to Naiya's Kitchen!! 🧑🏻‍🍳😊

If there’s one thing that proves street food is a love language, it’s the glorious, chaotic mashup known as Dabeli Bhel. Imagine the spicy, tamarind-soaked soul of a classic Kutchy Dabeli, but stripped of its bun and tossed into a crunchy, vibrant medley that hits every single taste bud at once. We’re talking about that signature hit of Dabeli masala, the crunch of masala shing (peanuts) that shatters with every bite, and the sharp, refreshing zing of finely diced onions. And for the grand finale? A generous handful of pomegranate pearls that pop like sweet rubies against the savory heat. It’s sweet, spicy, tangy, and dangerously addictive—basically, a party in a bowl that you’re definitely invited to.

At the end of the day, Dabeli Bhel is more than just a quick snack—it’s a reminder that the best flavors usually come from breaking the rules and mixing things up. Whether you’re serving this at a chaotic family get-together or whipping up a bowl just for yourself on a lazy Sunday, that perfect harmony of crunchy masala shing, sharp onions, and sweet pomegranate is guaranteed to hit the spot. It’s vibrant, it’s messy, and it’s unapologetically bold. So, go ahead—toss that extra handful of sev on top. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you! Enjoy snacking 😋🥗

2 teaspoon garlic chutney

1 small onion finely chopped

2 to 3 tablespoon masala shing

For garnishing:

Nylon sev

Pomegranate seeds

Coriander leaves

Papdi puri

Method to make Crispy Dabeli Bhel:

  • First of all mix dabeli masala, sweet chutney and garlic chutney properly. Add water to set consistency.
  • In a serving bowl add mamra, sev, crushed papdi puri and mixed chutneys.
  • Add onion, pomegranate seeds and masala shing/peanuts to it. Again mix properly.
  • At last garnish with nylon sev, coriander leaves, pomegranate seeds, masala peanut and papdi puri.
  • Serve super crunchy and super delicious Crispy Dabeli Bhel as soon as possible.

Tips:

  • I used yellow mamra, you can also use simple white roasted mamra.
  • To make masala mamra simply heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds to it. When they crackles add asafoetida and turmeric powder to it. Add dry roasted mamra to it and at last add salt to taste. Mix well and our simple yellow mamra is ready. You can add red chilli powder and caster sugar at this stage if you wish.
