Preparation time - 2 minutes
Cooking/microwave cooking time - 10 minutes
Serves - 2 persons
Ingredients to make Vrat wali Moraiya Khichdi :
1/2 cup moraiyo
2 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 tablespoon finely chopped green chillies
1 small boiled potato finely chopped
Fasting salt to taste
2 tablespoon curd
2 tablespoon masala peanuts
1 tablespoon sugar (opt)
For garnishing:
Finely chopped coriander leaves
Masala peanuts
Method to make Vrat wali Moraiya Khichdi Magic:
- First of all wash and soak moraiya in a microwave safe bowl. I prefer double water to soak. But it may differ.
- In a tempering pan add oil and cumin seeds. When they crackles add green chilies and transfer it to soaked moraiya. Add fasting salt and mix well.
- Cover and cook in microwave for 4 minutes.
- Rest for minimum 5 minutes. If moraiya is cooked add remaining ingredients. If not cooked cook again for 2 minutes. Again rest for 2 minutes.
- Resting time is important for easy and fast cooking.
- Personally I never add sugar to my moraiya, but it's upon you. If you want to add add it at last. And then cook for one minute. At this time covering is not required.
- Transfer Vrat wali Moraiya Khichdi to serving bowl and garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves and masala peanuts.
- You can enjoy it alone, but it can taste good with fresh homemade curd.
- Even you can sprinkle some farali chevda for more crunch.
