Ingredients to make Russian Salad:
2 cups boiled and diced potatoes
1 cup boiled and diced carrots
1 cup boiled green peas
1 cup boiled and diced French beans
1 cup diced cucumber
1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
1/2 cup diced yellow bell pepper
1/4 cup chopped pineapple
1/4 cup chopped apple
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream (Hung curd)
2 tablespoons mustard sauce
1 tablespoon white vinegar
Salt and black pepper to taste
Method to make Russian Salad:
For dressing:
· In a
mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, mustard sauce and white
vinegar. Add a pinch of salt and black pepper, adjusting the seasoning to suit
your taste. Set the dressing aside.
· In
separate pots, boil the potatoes, carrots, green peas, and French beans until
they are tender but not mushy. Drain the water and let them cool. Dice the
vegetables into small, uniform cubes and transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
· Chop
the fresh pineapple, apple, red and yellow bell peppers, and cucumber. Add them
to the bowl with the diced vegetables.
· Pour
the prepared dressing over the vegetables and gently toss everything together
until the dressing coats each vegetable evenly. The vibrant colours and
enticing aroma will make your mouth water.
· Cover
the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the Russian salad for at least an
hour to let the flavours meld together. This chilling time is crucial for the
best taste experience. Once chilled, give it a final toss and serve in a
beautiful salad bowl.
· To
add a touch of elegance, garnish the Russian salad with a few sprigs of fresh
parsley and dill. The combination of flavours and textures will delight your
taste buds, making it an ideal accompaniment for cold sandwiches, or simply
enjoyed on its own.
