How to make Tacos with Chips

Recipe by Naiya Sheth: In an earlier recipe, we made authentic Mexican Tacos. But in case of children, it is difficult to manage. So it's a new try to make it simple while serving. And for that, I just made byte size taco shells. Easy to eat and easy to serve. And same delicious taste with lots of cheese. It can be prepared for lunch box also. Just combine and eat. So, try this delicious Tacos with chips at home as anytime snack or light dinner menu.




Preparation time - 15 to 20 minutes
Cooking time 30 to 40 minutes
Soaking time - 4 to 6 hours

Ingredients to make Tacos with Chips:

For Chips:

1 cup refined oil
1/2 cup semolina
1 tablespoon oil
Salt to taste
1/4 teaspoon chilli flacks
1/4 teaspoon oregano

For toppings:

1 tin baked beans
1/2 cup kidney beans - soaked and boiled
1/2 cup soya beans - soaked and boiled
1 big onion finely chopped
1 big capsicum finely chopped
1/2 cup boiled sweet corn
1 tomato finely chopped - deseeded
Salt to taste
2 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon chili flacks
1 teaspoon oregano
1 tablespoon grated cheese
2 tablespoon tomato sauce
2 tablespoon oil

For garnishing:

Grated cheese

Method to make Tacos with Chips:

For chips:

  • Mix all ingredients of shells and make stiff dough from it. Keep aside covered for minimum 20 minutes.
  • Make equal size big balls from it and roll it. 
  • Now pick them and cut into equal size square.
  • Fry till light pink in colour.
  • When ready remove from oil and drain on kitchen tissue.

For toppings:

  • Soak beans in hot water for 5 to 6 hours. Pressure cook them with salt in it.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add onion and capsicum in it. Cook for 2 minutes and add the whole tin of baked beans in it. And time to add other beans also.
  • Add tomatoes, salt, red chilli powder and chilli flacks, oregano to it.
  • Cook for 2 minutes. Now add tomato sauce and grated cheese to it. At this time, you can add boiled sweet corn, paneer and chopped capsicum also,.Again cook for a minute.
  • Let it come to room temperature.

How to assemble:

  • At the time of serving place some chips on serving plate and cover with topping. Even over it finely chopped cabbage, finely chopped capsicum and finely chopped onion can be topped with beans toppings.
  • Cover grated cheese and at last sprinkle some chilli flacks and oregano on it.
  • Yummy, mouthwatering Tacos with Chips is ready to serve.
