Recipe by Naiya Sheth: In the earlier recipe, we made instant sev khamni. But in that recipe, we used gram flour besan. Personally, I like chana dal's sev khamni more than besan's. So I tried to make it yesterday in a microwave. And it gave me the same result as the steamer and saved my minimum 10 minutes in the morning as I have to make it for my son's lunch box before 8 am. So you also try to make this quick and delicious homemade sev khamni in a microwave.

Ingredients to make Sev Khamni In Microwave:
1/2 cup chana dal
2 green chillies
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 tablespoon garlic paste
Salt to taste
A pinch turmeric powder
1 teaspoon oil
1 1/2 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon asafoetida-hing
For tempering:
1 1/2 tablespoon oil
2 to 3 tablespoon water
8 to 10 raisins
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 tablespoon sesame seeds-til
1 tablespoon chopped cashews
To serve with:
Pomegranate seeds
Sev
Chopped coriander leaves
Method to make Sev Khamni In Microwave:
- Soak chana dal in tap water for 4 to 5 hours.
- Mix all ingredients in mixing jar and churn properly.
- In the microwave, proof steamer add water and pour above mixture in the upper compartment.
- Cover it and micro for 3 minutes.
- Keep aside for 2 minutes.
- Remove from steamer and let it cool.
- Crumble with hand and transfer in serving bowl.
- For tempering add oil in the pan and add mustard seeds.
- When it crackles add all other ingredients in it. Cook till water boils.
- Add it to the serving bowl and mix well.
- Garnish with sev, pomegranate seeds and coriander.
- Quick and delicious Sev Khamni in Microwave is ready to serve.
Tips:
- If microwave steamer is not available it can be made normally on flame also. In that case, it will take 10 to 12 minutes to steam.
