How to Make Shahi Tukda

This is a very well-known and wonderful recipe. Actually as the the name indicates shahi tukda is really very rich recipe. It is quick and easy desert. It's very easy to make very less ingredients. If rabdi is ready a kid can make it. And if left over rabdi is available it will be more easier. Just fry bread, chop nuts, make sugar syrup and assemble yummy desert, and serve chilled. So what are you waiting for enjoy this summer desert today.

Preparation time - 10 minutes
Cooking time - 20 minutes
Makes - 1 plate

Ingredients to make Shahi Tukda:

4 slices bread 
1 1/2 cup rabdi
2 cups sugar syrup for soaking
Ghee for frying

For garnishing:

Finely chopped almonds
Finely chopped pistachio
Finely chopped cashews
Few strains of saffron

For sugar syrup:

1 1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup water

Method to make Shahi Tukda:

For sugar syrup:

  • In a flat pan add sugar and water. Let it come to boiling temperature and make one string sugar syrup from it. Let it come to room temperature.

For shahi tukda:

  • Remove sides from bread and cut them in 2 pieces to make triangle.
  • Heat ghee in a pan and fry bread at medium flame till crisp and light brown in colour.
  • When ready drain over absorbent tissue. Repeat the same for remaining.
  • Dip fried breads in sugar syrup for 1 to 2 minutes and the place in serving plate. Repeat the same for remaining.
  • Spread cold rabdi over it to cover bread. Sprinkle lots of almonds, cashews, pistachio, cardamom and saffron over it. 
  • Rich and delicious Shahi Tukda is ready to serve.


  • To cut fat and time ready made toasts can be taken.
  • Even you can toast bread on non stick tavi with little ghee also.
