How to Make Green Peas Khaman Dhokla

Recipe by Naiya Sheth : Learn how to make Green Peas Khaman Dhokla. In earlier recipe we learn about the making of nylon khaman. It was instant. In this recipe it's a healthier version of nylon khaman. We are adding fresh green peas to normal instant khaman recipe. It is easy and delicious Green Peas Khaman Dhokla recipe. And above all we are making it in microwave. Means it is very fast in cooking. In fact we are going to do combination cooking, Khaman dhokla in microwave and tempering on flame.
It has to be served with  yellow khaman dhokla chutney or green chutney. It is an ideal recipe for breakfast and snacks. Even it can be served as side dish with Gujarati menu.

Preparation time - 10 minutes
Cooking time 5 to 7 minutes
Serves - 2 person

Ingredients to make Green Peas Khaman Dhokla:

1/2 cup gram flour/besan
1/2 cup boiled and crushed green peas
1 tea spoon semolina 
1 tea spoon sugar
1/2 tea spoon lemon juice
2 tea spoon oil
Salt to taste
1 tea spoon green chilli paste
1 tea spoon fruit salt - eno (approx.)
1/2 tea spoon ginger paste
Water as needed

For tempering:

2 table spoon oil
3/4 tea spoon mustard seeds
1 tea spoon sesame seeds
1/2 to 1 tea spoon sugar
4 to 5 green chillies - sliced
1/2 cup water

For garnishing:

Finely chopped coriander leaves
Grated fresh coconut

For chutney:

1 tea spoon oil
1/2 tea spoon mustard seeds
8 to 10 curry leaves
Salt to taste
1/2 tea spoon lemon juice
1 table spoon sugar
1 tea spoon green chilli paste
1 to 1 1/2 table spoon gram flour - besan

To serve with:

Dhokla chutney

Method to make Green Peas Dhokla:

For dhoklas:

  • Wash and boil green peas and when cool crush them.
  • In a big mixing bowl mix green peas, besan, semolina and other spices. Add water and make better. Mix well. Add eno to it and again mix well. 
  • Add some water in microwave safe steamer and pour above mixture to steamer plate. Close and cook for 3 minutes at MICRO HI. Give resting time for 2 minutes.

For tempering:

  • Heat oil and add mustard seeds to it, when they crackles add curry leaves , sesame seeds and green chillies. Add water to it and at last add sugar. Cook for 1 minute. 
  • Spread the temper over ready.

For chutney:


  • Mix gram flour, salt, water, sugar, green chillies in a pan and allow it to boil.When turns thick remove from flame.
  • In a small pan heat oil and add mustard seeds. When it crackles add curry leaves and pour it to ready chutney. Mix properly.

How to serve:

  • Cut dhoklas in desired shape and transfer to serving plate, garnish with grated coconut and coriander leaves. 
  • Serve hot and healthy Green Peas Khaman Dhokla with dhokla chutney and green chutney.

Tips:

  • Steaming can be done on ordinary steamer also. In that case it will take 15 to 20 minutes in steaming.
