Benefits of Banana

Banana is also known as kela, kedu, banane etc. 
It is an exotic fruit. It grows on the banana tree. Originally it is an Indian fruit but after words it cultivated in Africa, West Indies and South America. At a time banana tree bears 50 to 150 bananas. They are cultivated for export. Dry bananas are eaten by sports person as they have high energy than fresh bananas. Fresh bananas are having white sweet and fleshy pulp. Normally bananas are use after peeling it's skin. One can chop, grate, pulp or slices from bananas after peeling. In normal case bananas are available with green and yellow skin, green skinned bananas are row and yellow skinned bananas are ripe.
Even pink, red and purple skinned bananas are also available. Row bananas are use for cooking for eg. vegetables, curry, petties etc. On the other hand ripe bananas are widely used for shakes, fruit or cream salads, custards, deserts or can be taken as it is. Be careful while selecting bananas from market. Don't take over ripe banana. Always try to take smooth skinned banana without blemishes.     

Actually they have lots of health benefits but we are aware of very few. In this article we will take a look at the health benefits of bananas. One banana has 11% of the RDA of dietary fibres and only about 108 calories. 

Benefits of Banana:

  • The fibre in banana keeps digestion and helps to maintain low blood sugar and curbs over eating.
  • It contains high amount of potassium, so it can lower blood pressure and thus it lessens the possibilities of atherosclerosis, heart attack and stroke.
  • It is a very good source of calcium so, it is a right choice for bone health.
  • A single banana contains 34% of RDA of vitamin B6. Which plays an important role in body health. It acts as anti-inflammatory agent so cardiovascular disease.
  • Bananas are rich in fibres which helps us in regulating the bowel functions.
  • The best solution of constipation is eating a banana daily.
  • Bananas contains typtophan acid which reduces depression and improves our mood. 
  • As we all know that bananas are rich in vitamin B6 which helps in regulating blood glucose level. It helps in balancing overall mood and reduces menstrual pain. So it is advisable to eat a banana in stead of taking pain killers.
  •  Even row banana is also helpful for ulcer. Because it reduces the irritation in stomach and thus reduces the effect of higher acidity.
  • Bananas are rich in iron so, they can improve the hemoglobin level.
