How to Make Makhana Raita

Recipe by Naiya Sheth : Learn how to make makhana Raita. Makhanas are known as fox nuts. Normally we are not using it often. They looks similar to white popcorns. It is necessary to roast it before eating. Earlier we were used to roast it in pan with oil or ghee. But now it is possible to  roast it without oil in microwave. 

It can be used to burn fat. Normally it is used to make makhana curry or mutter makhana vegetables. But from the health part of view people prefer makhana-fox nuts simply roasted. Now here in this hoe made recipe we are using makhanas for making Makhana Raita. Here it is a kind of diet raita so we are avoiding sugar but it can be added as per the taste.


Preparation time - 5 minutes
Cooking time - 2 to 3 minutes

Ingredients to make Makhana Raita:

200 grams hung curd
50 grams makhanas
Salt to taste
1 tea spoon cumin powder

For garnishing:

Finely chopped coriander leaves

Method to make Makhana Raita:

  • Roast makhana in microwave for 2 minutes. (time will depend upon the moisture in the makhana.)
  • Hang curd for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Whisk it and add roasted makhana, salt and cumin powder to it.
  • Mix well. 
  • Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve cold Makhana Raita.

Tips:

  • Mix makhana at the time of serving only other wise it will be soggy.
