How to make Sev Tameta nu Shaak

Learn how to make sev tameta nu shaak. Normally we are use to make curry, dal or punjabi sabji for dinner. Here it's a homemade recipe for Kathiyavadi vegetable. This recipe needs very less ingredients. But it tastes very nice.

This sweet and spicy vegetable is very easy to make and it can be served with roti, paratha or bajra no rotlo.

Preparation time - 5 minutes
Cooking time - 10 minutes
Serves - 4 person

Ingredients to make Sev Tameta nu Shaak:

1 onion finely chopped 
1/2 tea spoon crushed ginger
1 tea spoon crushed garlic
4 big tomatoes finely chopped
Salt to taste
1 table spoon oil
1 tea spoon cumin seeds
1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder
1 1/2 to 2 tea spoon red chili powder
1 table spoon jaggery or sugar
1 table spoon tomato sauce

For garnishing:

Finely chopped coriander leaves

To serve with:


Method to make Sev Tameta nu Shaak:
  • Heat oil in a small pressure cooker, add cumin seeds. When it crackles add ginger, garlic paste. 
  • Cook for 1 minute. Add onion and cook till light pink. 
  • Now add chopped tomatoes and other spices. Add 1 1/2 cup water.
  • Pressure cook for 1 whistle. When cooker is cool open lid and add tomato sauce and sugar or jaggery.
  • Let it cook at medium flame till boiling temp. 
  • Garnish with coriander leaves. Hot and tempting Sev Tameta nu Shaak is ready to serve.
  • Serve with roti, pratha or bajra no rotlo.
  • Add sev at the time of serving otherwise it it will be soggy.
