This religious festival is celebrated on astami of Krishna paksha of the shravan month according to the Hindu calendar with great devotion and zeal. It is also known as Gokulashtami and Krishnaasthami.
Another day of Jamastami is called palna. On the day of palna, we are used to make Sooji no Halwo, as naivedya. This recipe is mouth watering.

Ingredients to make Sooji no Halwo:
1 cup sooji - semolina
1 cup sugar
1 cup ghee
4 cup milk
8 to 10 kishmish (dry grapes)
1/4 tea spoon saffron
For garnishing:
Sliced almond
Sliced pistachio
Cardamom seeds
Cardamom powder

Method to make Sooji no Halwo:
Preparation time - 5 minutes

- Add saffron to milk and let it hot till boiling temp.
- Heat ghee in a pan, add semolina in it. Roast it till light pink.
- Add hot saffron milk in it and cook till milk absorb. At this time add khshmish. Add sugar to it.
- Let it dissolved. You will see ghee releasing from the halwa. It shows that our halwa is ready to serve.
- Garnish Sooji no Halwo with almond, pistachio, cumin seeds, saffron and cumin power.
Tips:
- For naivedya make it from milk. In a normal case, you can use water in stead of milk, but will give better taste with milk.
- This recipe can be made in the microwave also.
