How to Make Rasmalai

A well known Bengali sweet rasmalai is loved by everyone. So, here it’s an instant recipe for rasmalai. This can be prepared from skimmed milk also. Means it’s a lovely sweet with low cal.

Preparation time – 5 minutes

Cooking time 10 minutes
Serves – 4 people

Ingredients to make Rasmalai:

5 cups full fat milk
8 slices bread
1 pinch saffron
3 to 4 table spoon sugar
¼ tea spoon cardamom powder
For garnishing:
Sliced almond
Sliced pistachio
Cardamom powder

Method to make Rasmalai:

  1. First of all cut all bread slices in round shape with the help of cutter or scissor. Keep a side covered.
  2. Mix milk, saffron and sugar in a non stick pan and boil it till 5 cups turns to 4 cups of milk.
  3. When ready remove from flame and add cardamom powder. Let it come at room temp.
  4. For serving put 2 round slices of bread in a serving bowl (individual serving) and pour 1 cup of milk over it. Garnish with almonds, pistachio, cardamom powder and saffron. Repeat the process for remaining.
  5. Keep in refrigerator for 2 to 3 hours.
  6. Serve chilled Rasmalai as desert.
  1. For diet conscious people you may use skimmed milk and corn flour slurry for thickening milk.
  2. For diabetes patients artificial sweetener can be used.
