How to make Sandwich Dhokla

Recipe by Naiya Sheth: In the earlier recipe, we made simple white dhokla. But now it's time to make Delicious sandwich Dhokla. Actually, it is not that difficult to make the only thing we need to be some care full. As it is little tricky. So let's make this delicious recipe at home, it can be served as side dish with dinner or lunch as well as anytime snack and breakfast also. And if a batter is ready it will be easier.



Preparation time - 10 minutes
Cooking time - 15 to 17 minutes


Ingredients to Make Sandwich Dhokla:

Dhokla batter as needed
Soda bicarb as needed
1 teaspoon oil
Oil for greasing

For chutney:

100 grams coriander
5 to 6 green chillies
1 tablespoon ginger
Juice of one lemon
2 tablespoon jaggery
1 teaspoon roasted cumin seeds
Salt to taste
2 tablespoon peanuts
For tempering - tadka:
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
1 tablespoon water
Coriander for garnishing

Method to make Sandwich Dhokla:

For chutney:

  • Mix all ingredients till smooth paste. Make sure to make spicy chutney.

How to assemble:

  • Add salt and a teaspoon of oil in batter and make a thin layer of it in greased steamer plate. Steam for 5 minutes in the hot steamer. Don't add soda bicarb in this layer.
  • Now make a layer of chutney over it. Leave some space from a border. 
  • Now add a pinch of soda bicarb to remaining batter and pour it over chutney from out to in.
  • Steam for minimum 10 minutes or till dhokla is ready.
  • Check and remove from steamer.

For tadka:

  • Heat oil and add mustard seeds to it. When it crackles add sesame seeds and remove from heat. At last, add water and spread over dhokla.
  • Cut and serve hot and delicious Sandwich dhokla.
  • Serve with chutney if needed.
