How to make Puri

Recipe By Naiya Sheth : Learn how to make Puri. Roti, puri, Bhakhri, double roti, paratha, naan, kulcha are the different Indian breads. Now here it's another home made bead recipe for puri. It's a fried Indian bread which is made occasionally. It is served with Indian traditional meal, either lunch or dinner. It is served with halwa, basundi, shrikhand etc. 

Preparation time - 5 to 7 minutes
Cooking time - 10 to 15 minutes
Serves - 4 persons

Ingredients to make Puri:

2 cups whole wheat flour
1/8 cup refined flour
1/8 cup semolina
3 table spoon oil
Salt to taste
Water as needed
Oil for frying

Method to make Puri:

  • Mix all the ingredients of puri in a big plate or bowl. 
  • Knead semi soft dough from it with sufficient water. 
  • Keep a side covered for 10 minutes at room temp.
  • Knead again and make small equal size balls from dough.
  • Roll semi thick puries from it.
  • Heat oil and fry puries one by one. 
  • Make sure to roll puries in small bunches and always cover rolled puries.
  • Hot soft and puffed puries are ready to serve.
