Recipe By Naiya Sheth : Learn how to make Halwa. Basically Rakshabandhan-Rakhi is to strengthen the bond of love between brothers and sisters. In Rakshabandhan-Rakhi we celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. It is celebrated on the full moon night of shravan month. In this festival sisters tie thread amulets on their brother's wrist, praying for their long life and happiness. On the other hand brothers are bound by thread for happiness and safety of their sisters. During the celebration when sisters are tying rakhi on their brother's wrists they gives gift to their sister. Sisters gives them sweet as the symbol of their love. Here in India many of them are used to make sweets at home with lots of love to their brother. So we are having so many recipes for this special occasion.

Basically there are different types of halwas. For example Sooji halwa, Rajigira halwa, Gajar halwa, Mung dal halwa, wheat halwa etc. But today we are going to learn the making of Mumbai Ice Halwa. As we all know it is very famous in India. Before some time I found that to make Mumbai Ice Halwa at home is very difficult, rather next to impossible. But last week my aunty teach me to make halwa at home. She gave me the perfect recipe for this. And when I tried it was great in taste. But it was little lengthy process and I found excess of ghee in this recipe. So yesterday I tried to make it in microwave oven it was very easy and quick. Even I used only 2 tea spoon ghee in it, but it was just like ready made halwa. So I would like to thank my aunty to teach me such an interesting recipe. Because my son loves to eat halwa.
