How to Make Malpua

This is one of the most popular traditional Indian pancakes soaked in sugar syrup. Normally malpuas were made by frying in ghee. So at that time it was so fatty. But here in this homemade recipe it is made by shallow frying. So, enjoy a sweet treat loved by one and all.

Preparation time – 20 minutes
Cooking time – 30 minutes
Serves – 10 people

Ingredients to make Malpua:

½ tin – 200 gram Condensed milk
100 gram semolina
½ cup – 50 grams refined flour
1 pinch salt
1 tea spoon fennel
1 CUP – 200 ml. warm water
1 pinch baking powder
50 gram paneer – finely crumbled
Ghee for shallow frying

For sugar syrup:

1 ½ cup – 225 grams sugar
2 cups water

For garnishing:

Sliced almonds
Sliced pistachio

Method to make Malpua:

For Malpua:

1. Mix semolina and warm water together and keep a side for 10 – 15 minutes.
2. Add condensed milk, refined flour, salt , fennel and baking soda to it and mix well.
3. Add crumbled paneer to it and beat well.
4. Heat a non stick pan and pour 1 table spoon of batter in it and spread an even pancake from it.
5. Apply ghee around it. Shallow fry till both sides get evenly browned and edges crisp.
6. Apply ghee on both the sides. Remove from heat and soak in sugar syrup for ½ minute.
7. Remove from syrup and garnish with sliced almonds and pistachio.
8. Repeat the process for remaining.
9. Hot and sweet Malpua is ready to serve.

For sugar syrup:


1. Mix water and sugar in a pan and bring to boil. Keep a side.
